Never once, I mean EVER, did I think about the radical changes that not only our bodies experience, but my face? Skin changes along with everything else. My entire line of makeup had to be re-vamp. So long favorites and hello cover-ups that don’t crease, foundation that doesn’t settle into those pesky lines, lighter shades of lipstick and finally good bye to my obsessive compulsive relationship I had with finishing powder!
Looking in the mirror and discovering an entire army of new challenges can be daunting. Where once my only dilemma was how to cover up a pimple, has now became how to camouflage dark circles, lines and oh God the dreaded age spots. Those must be our punishment for living life to its fullest. Luminosity is the OUR new friend, whereas before, I especially, was so in love with Matte. The transition is depressing as hell, but unless you want to look like Morticia, you must succumb to the notion of dewy skin.
Here are my NEW favorites that accommodate the new me! Gloss, always GLOSS! If I do wear lipstick I’ll apply gloss over it. Nothing gives my face a more youthful appearance. This picture shows how soft your lipstick will look by just applying gloss over your favorite color! My personal favorite is; Lancome Fever Gloss in the color Hot Number.
Next up is concealer; this can be really tricky! To avoid looking like you having concealer on, you know those horrid lines around our eyes, you have to find just the perfect one that is crease-less. Thank me now, because I’ve done the footwork for you! I tested out numerous ones and the ONLY one I have found to actually work is by Amazing Cosmetics. I found it at Sephora, cost is $28.00. I also purchase the second to lightest shade because you definitely can go very wrong here. Remember it’s a highlighter, so it should be lighter than your foundation. It’s like a magic eraser for your FACE! One tiny drop is all you need, and always apply with a sponge like this. This little sponge is a miracle tool! The tip fits perfectly into the tiniest areas.
Rules to live by:
Darker lipstick will age you, wear at your own risk.
If you must use finishing powder use it only where it will not settle in the lines.
Lighten up everything, from Mascara, eyeliner to blush.
Shhhhhh… our little secrets.
Apologies for these quick photos taken with my iphone.
