• Magnetic Shades Arrive Tomorrow!

    September 30th, 2011

    Fall Manicures

New products arriving daily, new looks and fun as always to try!

This one is not an exception, Fab new magnetic polish comes out tomorrow at Sephora are you going to try it?

“Step aside, crackle nail polish! These magnetic shades, launching exclusively at Sephora on October 1st, create a 3D wave effect. To get the look, apply a base coat and two coats of the polish. Before the second coat dries, hold the magnetized bottle cap over the fingernail. After 10 to 15 seconds, the magnet will shift the polish particles, leaving you with nail art.”

Big announcement on my blog this weekend about a crazy fun giveaway, over 100 winners! Can’t wait to share… stay tuned!!

Daydreaming or day-tripping? Always a dreamer, or so I’ve been accuse of. Gorgeous pictures to get lost in and have a little dream yourself! Of late I’ve often thought of a seaside cottage where I can write, blog and tweet. Three of my favorite things. The dress in the first picture is what I would wear while sipping cappuccino endlessly in a hammock while reading a juicy book to get lost in.

    Happy Wednesday Luvs….

Alone these pieces don’t have the same effect. But brilliantly accessorized takes it to a entirely different level.

The difference between dressing and dressing well is the DETAILS. As shown perfectly in these Ann Taylor selections. The polka dot scarf in the first picture brings this entire outfit together! Without it, I find in ordinary. Slip on the  faux fur wrap and vest paired with the gloves and you’re ready for just about any event. Heads are sure to turn when you wear a piece that’s unexpected.

Every fall I take my favorite pieces from the prior year and update them with this year’s most current accessories. Ann Taylor was my go to place to find everything I desired and more. And nothing makes you feel more GLAMOROUS than faux fur, it’s beyond fun to wear!

    Maximize Your Gloss Effect!

    September 26th, 2011

    Glossed Out

Has your hair lost its sparkle?  Maximize your GLOSS effect with these techniques!

    Mask it!

Mix several tablespoons of honey and olive oil. Then, apply this homemade mask to ends, working your way up to coat the entire head. Leave in for 20 minutes and rinse out with shampoo and conditioner. “It’s mother nature’s secret to shiny hair!”

    Clarify it!

Over time, the accumulation of styling product can be a drag. It clings on like a needy boyfriend, weighing hair down and stripping its sparkle. To ditch the buildup, I recommends adding one tablespoon of baking soda to two tablespoons of your shampoo. The sodium bicarbonate will remove the stubborn, sticky residue.

    Brush up!

You wouldn’t brush your teeth with sandpaper and the same should be said of your locks. “Upgrade to a natural boar bristle brush,” says Jill Guzzo, stylist at NYC’s Butterfly Studio Salon. Natural bristles evenly distribute the natural oils in hair and smooth the cuticle to create a polished finish.

    Shine on!

Natural coral lipstick, topped with a light layer of gloss.”

    Claire Danes

Makeup artist Matin Maulawizada, brand ambassador for Laura Mercier, was inspired by the rock ‘n roll vibe of the 1980s when he created Claire Danes‘s eye-catching look at the 2011 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. But rather than giving the star a thick swipe of opaque lipstick, he opted for a more contemporary finish: Gel lip color in a sheer red orange.

Whether it be your hair or lips, both look better shining! Gloss always – thick heavy lips that look dry are just not kiss worthy!

    RASPBERRY CHOCOLATE FRENCH MACAROONS

    For macaroons

    • 6 oz sliced blanched almonds (not slivered; 2 cups)
    • 1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
    • 3 large egg whites
    • 3/4 teaspoon salt
    • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
    • Red or pink food coloring

    For chocolate raspberry ganache

    • 3 oz fine-quality bittersweet chocolate (60 to 64% cacao), finely chopped
    • 1/3 cup heavy cream
    • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
    • 1/16 teaspoon raspberry extract (preferably McCormick brand)
    • Special equipment: parchment paper; a gallon-size sealable plastic bag (not pleated)

    Make macaroons:

Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.

Pulse almonds with 1/2 cup confectioners sugar in a food processor until very finely ground, 2 to 3 minutes, then transfer to a bowl. Sift in remaining cup confectioners sugar, stirring to combine.

Beat egg whites with salt in another bowl with an electric mixer at medium speed until they just hold soft peaks. Add granulated sugar, a little at a time, beating, then increase speed to high and continue to beat until whites just hold stiff, glossy peaks. Add drops of food coloring to reach desired shade and mix at low speed until evenly combined. Stir almond mixture into meringue with a rubber spatula until completely incorporated. (Meringue will deflate.)

Spoon batter into bag, pressing out excess air, and snip off 1 corner of plastic bag to create a 1/4-inch opening. Twist bag firmly just above batter, then pipe peaked mounds of batter (the size of a chocolate kiss) onto lined sheets about 1 1/2 inches apart. Let cookies stand, uncovered, at room temperature until tops are no longer sticky and a light crust forms, 20 to 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, put oven racks in upper and lower thirds of oven and preheat oven to 300°F.

Bake cookies, switching position of sheets halfway through baking, until crisp and edges are just slightly darker, 20 to 25 minutes. Cool completely on sheets on racks, about 30 minutes.

    Make ganache while macaroons bake:
Melt chocolate with cream in a metal bowl set over a pan of barely simmering water or in top of a double boiler, stirring until smooth. (Bowl should not touch water.) Remove bowl from heat, then add butter and raspberry extract, stirring until butter is melted. Let stand at room temperature until cooled completely and slightly thickened.

    Assemble cookies:
Carefully peel cookies from parchment (they will be fragile). Sandwich a thin layer of ganache (about 1/2 teaspoon) between flat sides of cookies.

Blair from Atlantic Pacific blog shows how great Missoni can look! Fabulous!!!

    Another look at Missoni’s elegance

    Never ever do this!

How NOT To Wear YOUR Missoni For Target

With so much chitter chatter in the last week about Missoni’s new Target line, I felt I had to put in my two cents.  If you have followed my blog for awhile now you KNOW it’s all about the glamour! Like yesterday’s post, Ralph Lauren’s S/S 2012 collection, it’s all about ME. If I were fortunate enough to be a designer, my line would be quite similar.

OK, so back to Missoni. WTH is what I think. Honestly only a slight resemblance to the originals. And the resemblance is not flattering. I’m over it, soooo over it. And the more I see it, the more I dislike it!

Case in point in the pictures above, Blair from Atlantic-Pacific blog shows how fabulous Missoni can look when you accessorize it properly. Missoni has so much glamour and sophistication in their styles. And by parterning with Target, they LOST it all.

The lesson to take away from this is, “less expensive isn’t always better.”  Save up or create your own based on an inspiration of your favorite designer. Case in point, I am not running out to buy this Ralph Lauren style anytime soon (pictured below,)  trust me! But I will be buying a beautifully crafted white elegant sweater and pairing it with this year’s must have wide pants, entirely white of course and accessorizing with silver.

    Be inspired everyday!

    Ralph Lauren Invokes 1920′s Glamour!

The designs consist of flowy crepe de chine trousers with effortless styling. Crisp white and pale pink dresses and suits flanked ostrich feather ornamented frocks all suitable for chic spring dressing.

White on white flowing effortlessly is my absolute favorite. I would pair it with the pink silk tie. Speaking of the pink tie, hard to find a picture of it. I did see it when I watched the runway show and have been obsessed with it ever since.

Lauren throws in a biker’s jacket in dusty pink leather – rendering it utterly feminine, so that a 65-year-old sophisticate could swing it without looking tawdry!

I am taking so many inspirations from his line, especially the wide leg silk pants paired with the white sweater. Absolute PERFECTION

Another great week to live in Arizona. Mornings are resembling fall or at least OUR version of  fall. My favorite time of year! Coffee on the patio every morning watching the sun rise over the golf course is my new daily routine.

Incredibly stylish, fashion forward and simply styled in such an elegant way.  Alix Cherry never disappoints with her outfit posts!

The ASOS socks or over the knee nylons are my favorite part. Inspiration X ‘s three on this one.

Finally completed so much more of my decorating to do list, I’ve been crossing them off feverishly.  I’ll take more pics this weekend and share. Finishing up is the best part, ya know, when it all starts to come together. Right?

Hope everyone has had a great week so far, if not, well hell it’s Friday tomorrow, so it’s about to get better!

My number one choice from this year’s Marchesa  Spring 2012 is this magical dress.  Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig designs are what dreams are made of! The exquisite tulleing and details, albeit seen before, never disappoint.

I get lost in the designs. I can picture one of these gowns making it’s residence in the corner of my room on a lovely graceful stand, behind glass of course.

One day I hope to own my very own Marchesa gown and meet the fabulous Georgina Chapman!
